Senior Bridge Engineer

SDR Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a senior bridge engineer in our office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Position involves leading, coordinating and completing bridge design and rehabilitation projects of various sizes and complexities. The major responsibilities will include bridge design analysis, structural modeling, technical report preparation, design drawing preparation, Non-destructive testing, and bridge condition/assessment inspections. The qualified candidate will also provide guidance and direction to junior engineers and coordination of project work.

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in Louisiana or the ability to obtain one.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience and responsibility in bridge design and plan production.
• Knowledge and experience with Design Manuals, Standards, and Specifications as well as ASSHTO LRFD. Familiarity with Louisiana DOTD standards and procedures is a plus.
• Knowledge and experience in inspection and non-destructive testing/evaluation of bridges.
• Knowledge of standard engineering software including AutoCAD and MicroStation. Experience with AASHTOWare, MDX, RC-Pier, Midas and MathCAD is a plus.
• Possess leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and written skills.

Entry-Level Bridge Engineer

SDR is looking for an entry-level bridge engineer to join our office in Tallahassee, Florida, or Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The candidate will be involved in all aspects of bridge engineering as follows:
• Bridge design and analysis.
• Bridge load rating.
• Use AutoCAD or MicroStation to prepare plans and annotations for bridges.
• Bridge condition inspection.
• Load testing of bridges.
• Assist with the preparation of technical reports.
• Perform other engineering duties as needed.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Good knowledge of design manuals, standards, and specifications such as AASHTO LRFD, AISC, PCI is a plus etc.
• Knowledge of CAD software is a plus.
• Experience with software such as AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, MDX, LEAP Bridge Concrete, and MathCAD is a plus.
• Knowledge of structural analysis software and finite element analysis is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and self-motivation.
• Desire to work in a team environment.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
• Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.

Full-time or part-time entry level engineer

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis.
  • Knowledge of CAD software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis software(s) and finite element analysis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of standard engineering CAD software is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and self-motivation.
  • Desire to work in a team environment.
  • Work location can be either Baton Rouge, Louisiana or Tallahassee, Florida.

Engineering Technician

SDR is looking for an Engineering Technician to be involved in CAD and fieldwork as follows:


Responsibilities:

The candidate will participate in the development of engineering drawings, bridge inspection, bridge fieldwork, and other related engineering activities.

  • Inspections of bridges.
  • Load testing of bridges
  • Perform wood, concrete, or steel installations, repairs, and replacements in the field.
  • Use AutoCAD or MicroStation to prepare plans and annotations for bridges.
  • Assist with preparation of technical reports.
  • Perform other engineering duties as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Knowledge related to civil engineering.
  • National Highway Institute (NHI) Inspection course is a plus but not required.
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.
  • A self-motivated worker and a team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Should be able to travel for a few days consecutively
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
